Our Earth Day Potato Party was a HUGE SUCCESS!!

Yesterday, nearly 30 volunteers planted over half an acre of potatoes at Upper Meadows Farm. That’s over 1,200 pounds of seed potatoes! Our youngest volunteer was 14 months old, and our oldest was in his seventies. The sunshine and slight breeze made it a great day to get down and dirty working hard. Everyone had a great time planting the potatoes that we all will be eating in a few short months. Below are a few photos from our first annual Potato Plantin’ Earth Day event.  Thanks to all of our awesome volunteers! Stay tuned for the details on our next big volunteer event in May!  Interested in getting involved volunteering on farm? E-mail Megan@uppermeadowsfarm.com for more info.

  1. I opened the latest issue of Gourmet this morning and there was “papas a la Huancaína”–a recipe for purple potatoes covered in a chili cheese sauce! I am counting the days until those purple Vikings are ready…

  2. Mmmmmmm. Count me in on those papas!

  3. We can contrast and compare with the Purple Majesty and the Purple Vikings. Matter of fact, I think that the all reds and all blues and probably the Island sunshine potatoes would be fab with that recipe!!! Sorry for drooling on the keyboard!

  4. Thanks for organizing such a fun day!
