I believe that life is short and so should be lived with passion. I have traveled my own path; “marching to my own drummer” as it were. The activities I have spent the most time at are farming, music, and construction. I am a musician by education and a farmer by vocation. All of the experience I have had informs my farming. Much of the land encompassed by Upper Meadows Farm today was farmed by my father from 1945 to 1956. I learned much of farming from my mother, father, grandmother and mother nature. All nurtured this land and reaped a wonderful bounty, both wild and cultivated. I have continued to grow many of the crops my grandmother prized, some of my favorites, from amaranth to red clover.
Balancing my life with the demands of the farm, I continue to perform with groups like Manny Oquendo Y Libre, Big Bang Jazz Gang, and my quintet, Uncharted Territory. The farm never fails to offer plenty of opportunity for me to use and hone all my skills.
